The Fenris Puppy Program

All puppies are champions in the making!

Why is a puppy program important?

The average dog gets groomed every 6-8 weeks and lives for 15 years.  That means your dog can expect anywhere from  96 to 135 grooming appointments in their life time! At the puppy stage we get to determine what those future experiences will be for your dog - Scary and anxiety inducing or calm and enriching.

Doing the job thoroughly and well in the beginning is always worth it, and will pay off in the long run. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Why do we start puppies at 8-10 weeks old?

If you wanted your pup to grow up being safe around kids, at what age would you start introducing him to children? How often would you want him interacting with kids to make sure? "He was raised with kids" seems to be the gold standard!

Grooming is no different! If we raise puppies with frequent visits to the dog groomer -in a kind and thoughtful way- we can have a dog who is great at grooming!

Why do we groom puppies so often?

Puppies are learning and developing very quickly! By visiting the grooming salon often we are normalizing the experience for the young, growing dog. There is a lot to learn and experience in grooming , by breaking it up into small positive experiences we are being careful not to overwhelm your puppy -especially if they happen to be experiencing a fear period!
